OCTOBER IS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

OK everyone.. october is breast care awareness month and i have come up with a swap for our group. Here is the picture of the block...

Here are the directions

This is a 9 inch block finished.

Cut (2) 4" long x 1 1/2" wide strips in your bra color

(1) 5" wide x 6 1/2" long strip of flesh colored fabric- remember there are all shades of flesh

(1) 4" wide x 9 1/2" long strip of flesh colored fabric- the width of this may vary due to how much you have to cut off the top of the flying geese block to match straps so i suggest waiting to cut this block until you are finished sewing the others together and measure what you will need plus the 1/4" seam allowance.

(1) 10"x 10" block in flesh colored fabric

(3) 5" x 5" blocks in bra color

directions for flying geese block can be found here http://www.patchpieces.com/Flyinggeese.html using the 10" block and and (3) 5" Blocks

next you will sew your 4 " strips to your 6 1/2" flesh colored strip

now heres the tricky part ... you will have to trim down the top of your flying geese block to meet the "straps" of your bra. i cut about 1 1/2" off the top but this will depend on your flying geese block.

sew your strap block to the flying geese block.

next sew that section to the 4 x 9 1/2 inch strip of flesh colored fabric-remember depending on how much you had to cut off the top of your flying geese you may have to have a wider strip.

straighten up your block to be 9 1/2 x 9 1/2 and your done now you can embelish with lace, beads, bows anything you can imagine!

I will post a picture of one i have made soon

hope this makes sense!

More organized fabric closet! Yeah

I found a blog with a great tip on folding fabric. I love it .. i spent the whole weekend redoing my fabric closet .. here are before and after pictures!

Before .....

And....

After!

Amazing isnt it ... you take your fabric the way you get it from the bolt .. wrap it around your cutting ruler ; slip it off the ruler and fold over .. waaaahlahhh small compact neatly folded fabric!

Hubbys Quilt finished

Finished my husbands quilt .. he loves it! I am so happy .. he asked for his favorite football teams and of course star wars .. i thought gee how the heck am i going to do that! well so i decided to use the pattern shortstacks for the front with all the football fabric.. if you haven't made this quilt it is amazingly simple and it only takes like 14 fqs ... i used yardage but it was still sooo simple .. i made his a lil larger as he is so tall. I made it reversible with the star wars on the backing.. here are the pictures

One block wonder

I have been looking at quilts online and decided i'd give the one block wonder a try.. without the book , i decided i could research and figure it out on my own so here goes ..it has really been a great experience so far .. they are so much fun! It's so exciting to cut and see what comes out in each block.

Ok .. here we are .. i've worked most of the day on these things .. not sure how it will come out and i think ill be crazy before i figure out the correct way but this is what i have so far ..
Lesson to my self .. next time don't use light fabric ... live and learn its very pretty and very feminine but its very light too ... going to add some pinks to it that are in the same fabric grouping. I have also purchased some border fabrics to go with it that will make it really stand out. Another lesson learned.. only sew your triangles into threes and then PIN your hexagon together .. i am now frogging a million blocks.. Ugh not my favorite thing to do !
